Böször-
ményi Street
This property is located on Böszörményi Street in the XII. district, a bustling area on the Buda side of Budapest. A lady approached us to transform an inherited apartment from her mother into a new living space. She came with specific ideas, having already determined the colors and style in advance, but left the practical layouts and space organization to us. The team at Flamingo Interiors also handles the execution, which in this case makes the lady’s move-in much easier, as after the design phase, we continue with the renovation work, ensuring she can move in on time.
CHALLENGE
Interior design plans can be incredibly helpful when the client collaborates with us before the work processes begin, allowing us to plan the key elements in advance. For the female owner, it was important to incorporate the inherited furniture pieces into the design. It was essential that these items fit seamlessly into the space while still reflecting the planned modern glamour style. The challenge was the kitchen design, which we opened up to the living room. By creating an L-shaped countertop, we were able to integrate the kitchen/dining area as part of the living room space.

The concept
Overall, the most important aspect during the design process was the proper layout of the kitchen. Next to the window, a narrow lower cabinet was placed, which perfectly serves as a small café corner. Following that, two tall cabinets were installed, where we built in the refrigerator and the oven/microwave appliances. Next to it, the cooktop and a corner unit are positioned, from which an extended countertop section reaches into the space. This section houses the dishwasher and the sink. In front of the countertop, there is a dining table for four. We didn’t completely eliminate the kitchen wall next to the entrance to maintain a surface in the hallway, so the wall section on the other side of the kitchen window was also designed with a narrow set of cabinets. The kitchen and dining area take up more space, so the living room has a slightly smaller area, but we were still able to create a TV stand with Ikea furniture, offering enough storage space, as well as a glass-fronted cabinet to display family heirlooms. The bedroom can be accessed from both the hallway and the living room. We utilized all surfaces in the bedroom, so we designed a wardrobe that provides sufficient storage for the owner. In the hallway, there is a large built-in wardrobe, which will remain, but it will be replaced with a custom wardrobe made from new components.

Kitchen
The kitchen is arranged in an L-shape within the space. This layout allowed us to create a countertop that extends into the room, which also functions as a space divider. The cabinet fronts are made from Egger furniture panels. We chose two colors to slightly distinguish the upper and lower cabinets from each other. One is Egger Crema Beige, and the other is Egger Sand Beige. The cabinets are adorned with Viefe Vann-type handles, adding a touch of glamorous style to the natural tones. Above the coffee machine area, we designed an open shelving unit, which creates a more open and airy feel. The kitchen wall is tiled with Marazzi Lume Off White tiles, providing an interesting texture alongside the beige panels. For the countertop, we chose a lighter wood effect, the Egger White Halifax Oak type. The lighting fixtures contribute an element of elegance, luxury, and uniqueness to the space.

Living room
The living room is located directly next to the kitchen, beside the dining table. We designed a smaller seating arrangement that fits well within the space. The sofa is a pull-out, three-seat model, and its blue color, along with the velvet fabric, creates a truly glamorous effect. Above the sofa, a special family heirloom is displayed on the wall. We planned textile curtains for the balcony door and windows, which add an elegant touch to the overall space.

Bedroom
The style of the bedroom follows the glamorous theme, but with a twist—the walls feature stronger colors and a combination of exciting wallpapers. The blue and gold color scheme continues here as well. The bed is upholstered in velvet, while the lamps, with their gilded accents, add just the right amount of luxury to the space, creating an elegant and opulent atmosphere.
